Forbe's Thoughts

whassup guys and gals, more of my random thoughts

Steve Forbes

OK guys…Gamboa looked good in his demolishing of a veteran fighter. But the second coming? OK…The second coming of what, you ask? A young, fresh Joel Casamayor, that’s what.

Do I like watching him fight? Sure. But come on guys…Look who he’s fighting right now…Well, you know the type of guys he’s fighting right now, so let’s not fool ourselves.

Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao? OK, I know I was able to bust Oscar up a bit and I’m not really a big knockout, big punching guy…OK…I get that…BUT WHAT I AM is a crafty, well-schooled fighter who can take a shot (knocking on wood as I write this) and who is absolutely fearless (did I mention pretty damn skilled as well?). So now, you would think if Mr. Forbes (I’m allowed a third person reference every once in a while) was able to hit Oscar that way, then what can Manny do?

Listen guys, and listen good. I walked through heavy fire to land on Oscar and bust his face up. And I happen to punch a lot better than I’m ever given credit for. Ask Oscar, Bojado, Hopkins, and anyone from the Contender…Oh yeah, and my sparring partners…most of which were middleweights. My question is this…Is Juan Manuel Marquez better than De La Hoya? Would Barrera go 12 rounds with the Golden Boy? Because I’m not convinced Pacquiao is better than Marquez. I rest my case on that.

This would be bad for Oscar’s legacy if this happens. This is no more than a video game fight where you can match Sugar Ray Leonard against Lennox Lewis on the EA Sports video game, Fight Night. It also makes Oscar look like a bully.

Moving on…I hear Paul Williams against Winky Wright is a good possibility…Interesting matchup…But my main thought is will the ring rust hurt Wink?

Sergio Mora vs Vernon Forrest Part 2…
This thing is a real soap opera. If they fight in a rematch, Sergio may get stripped. But if he defends his title against the mandatory, he will possibly have a lawsuit filed against him. Damn Sergio…I bet you never thought when you won the title, that’s when all the stress starts, huh!!! Well, I can relate, my man! I once held the gold around my waist…

Speaking of which…

Steve Forbes Vs Andre Berto on HBO? It’s looking that way, folks…Well, no contracts have been signed as of yet, but it is in the works. In my eyes, Andre Berto is a very skilled work-in-progress who happens to have a belt. He knows and I know, as well as his promoters and handlers, that he has never faced a fighter like me. A slick, fast guy. I think Michel Trabant and David Estrada were the best guys he’s faced…Oh, also Cosme Rivera, who knocked him down. This is one of those fights that really excites me because it’s another chance to show WHAT I CAN DO, and I will be better than when I fought De La Hoya. I guarantee it!!!

And Berto will be up for the challenge.

Well guys…until next time, always focus on looking forward. Never worry about what’s behind you, because once you do that, you become blind to everything that’s in front of you…like OPPORTUNITY.
